Häagen-Dazs

Päuse creates an experience that allows people to enjoy the singular sensation of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Broken down to its core ingredients, each flavor is an experiment in art.

Mint Chip. The iPad becomes a liquid canvas, ‘filled’ with waves of rich cream. Users add chocolate that can then be manipulated either by touch or by tilting and rotating the tablet. Users can then add mint leaves by blowing gently into the iPad’s mic.

Chocolate. The iPad is turned into a unique musical instrument.

We recreate the 88 notes of a piano along with an a cappella voice. The notes are arranged with bass notes towards the lower portion of the screen and higher notes in the upper portion. As a user plays the keyboard, liquid chocolate erupts, creating a striking visual accompaniment to the melody. Users can further personalize their experience by tapping the record function, and singing into the app.

Crème Brulée. Here we turn cream and caramelized sugar into sculptural elements. The user puts a stream of cream into motion with a swipe of a finger, then adds ribbons of caramel and fine sugar into the mix to form a beautiful creation.

Vanilla. The interaction is simple yet mesmerizing. Users manipulate melted vanilla ice cream through an elegant black liquid, creating organic shapes that, once set into motion, take on a life of their own.

Passing on Päuse. When users share their creations with friends, they receive credits towards limited edition rewards. Every time a friend downloads the app, the user gets a ‘share credit.’ For the first three fans that share with 1000 people, a Häagen-Dazs chef comes to their home to make a dozen pints of custom Häagen-Dazs ice cream.
